MSK Webinar Series

Summary
MSK Webinar Series: Quality care, prevention and cost effectiveness in NHS Fracture Liaison Services

Thursday, July 21, 2016  12:00-13:00

The cost of osteoporosis and fragility fractures to the NHS will spiral from £2.3 billion now, to over £6 billion in 2036.
Increasingly the drive to find cost efficiencies whilst maintaining clinical quality is a dilemma faced by commissioners, providers, and STP sites. As we look to support sustainable transformation, the added challenge of establishing a causal link between spend, and outcome, has become an focus of much high profile discussion.

In this webinar the National Osteoporosis Society will explain how a Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) systematically identifies, treats and refers all eligible patients over 50 within a local population who have suffered fragility fractures, with the aim of reducing their risk of subsequent fractures. The National Osteoporosis Society will also discuss the wider principles of their approach, in which long-term savings can be made, and un-necessary burden on the system prevented by focusing on the best interest of the patient, and the improvement of clinical outcomes as a first priority.

The webinar is aimed at commissioners, clinicians and providers within the MSK community.
