  • This is a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition. The aim is to source a technological solution for managing the care and welfare of persons in police custody.
  • Police Scotland is seeking an integrated technological solution that can remotely monitor individuals and provide an early warning and intervention alert system. This should improve custody health and welfare outcomes.

  • From start-ups to large corporates, B4I helps companies to overcome product, manufacturing or process performance issues by leveraging more than £2bn worth of government investment in world-leading science facilities. Working closely with Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) research and innovation experts, companies can develop projects that address specific innovation challenges to accelerate business productivity.

Royal Society Industry Fellowship Scheme
  • This scheme is for academic scientists who want to collaborate with industry, or industry scientists who want to collaborate with an academic body
  • The Royal Society‘s Industry Fellowship Scheme aims to enhance knowledge transfer in science and technology between those in industry and those in academia in the UK
  • The scheme covers all areas of the life and physical sciences, including engineering, but excluding clinical medicine. (Current award holders work in pharmaceuticals, electrolytic plasma processing, and preclinical research for schizophrenia).

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships - Spring/Summer 2019

  • The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme helps businesses in the UK to innovate and grow. It does this by linking them with an academic or research organisation and a graduate.
  • Who can take part?
    • Each KTP is a 3-way partnership between:
    • a UK-based business of any size or a not-for-profit organisation
    • an academic or research organisation. This could be a university, college or research and technology organisation in the UK
    • a suitably-qualified graduate, with the capability to lead a strategic business project

Biomedical Catalyst: Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme
  • The DPFS scheme supports the translation of fundamental discoveries toward benefits to human health. It funds the pre-clinical development and early clinical testing of novel therapeutics, devices and diagnostics, including “repurposing” of existing therapies.
